19NORTH Building Community 2019

Year in Review

What an amazing year of building community TOGETHER!
At the heart of all that 19NORTH does is collaboration and relationship building. When we work together on a shared vision for our community
AMAZING things begin to happen...take a look:

COCOA WITH A COP

We began our year by gathering in our 19NORTH Plaza to hear from our
Police Commander and City Council Representatives.

LOVE OUR COMMUNITY EVENT
Our annual street clean up brought out our very own Washington High School students! Together with city support, community leaders, and local businesses we painted all of our fire hydrants and picked up trash
along 19th Ave from Dunlap to Montebello.

2nd FRIDAYS IN 19NORTH

These monthly events brought together local businesses, artists, residents and great food to celebrate community!

Local artists had the opportunity to showcase their work in the plaza and in our art center.

19NORTH BUSINESS ALLIANCE

By partnering with business managers, police, landowners, city offices and residents, we've helped to make significant safety improvements to many local businesses.

We have made over a dozen site visits to businesses like Albertson's, EZ Stop, Circle K, Bookman's and others asking, "How can we help your business to thrive?"

19NORTH COMMUNITY GARDEN

In March, we held our official Grand Opening for our community garden. This space represents everything 19NORTH is about, collaboration and relationships. Generous donations and partners made this space possible. Now we have a beautiful space for community and
gardening to be experienced by EVERYONE.

WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT
THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY CAREER PIPELINE

By partnering with Washington High School, Kiewit/McCarthy JV, the Carpenters Union, the Laborers Union, City Streets, and AZ@Work we provided the students at Washington High School with a plethora of information and opportunities within the construction industry.

We hope to make this a yearly opportunity for students and community!

By providing a clear career opportunity and pathway, students can move toward successful futures!

19NORTH POLICY PLAN
In our partnership with City Planning, we brought community together to finalize our 19NORTH Policy Plan. This plan outlines the community's voice for the future development of our community. Once approved by City Council, this document will be used to guide and influence development in 19NORTH.

19NORTH COMMUNITY BOWLING EVENT

As you can see, we had a blast! All 28 lanes were filled with teams from businesses, schools, faith, city offices/partners, police and neighborhood groups. It was a BEAUTIFUL site to see and experience!

DINNER IN THE GARDEN

This evening brought community together to enjoy amazing food created by local chefs:

Butch Raphael of AZ Pops,
Doug Robson of Otro Cafe and
Gallo Blanco/Tracy Dempsey of Tracy Dempsey Originals.

Our guests included our City Planning team, the County Prosecutor Office, Streets, Neighborhood Services and our Vice-Mayor!
Many, many thanks to all of the volunteers that set up, hosted, served and made this night possible!

WINTER WORLD EXPRESS

It was a blustery day for hundreds of kids to come and enjoy 20 tons of snow, a visit with Santa, Washington High School performances,
arts and foods from around the world
and lots of fun activities!

2019 was a year full of community building!

When we come together to collaborate on a shared vision
for our community,
we really can move us in a direction we all want to go...
"A Safe, Walkable, Community for ALL to Enjoy".

Thank you for your ongoing support and partnership!
On to 2020...
